Key Issues

As the number one natural disaster in the United States, floods can be widespread and catastrophic events that threaten life and property.  Major flooding events in recent years have brought issues related to public policy, insurance requirements and coverage availablity, risk data accuracy and the purpose and viability of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) into the forefront of national news and legislative activity.  The NFDA is active in advocating for the NFIP and policies that protect citizens, support prudent land use and provide for current and accurate flood mapping data.
